Recently, GE announced that it will cooperate with the Carnival Group to upgrade the propulsion control system of the "Dawn Princess" cruise ship. The new control system after the upgrade will reduce the installation cost, while enhancing redundancy and improving operational safety. 
It is reported that the "Dawn Princess" is 856 feet long and has a tonnage of 77,441 tons. It is reported that this is not the first time GE has provided propulsion technology for the "Dawn Princess". As early as 1993, GE will supply the ship with the Syconum digital control system. Today, GE's Ship Solutions division will provide the ship with the latest generation of PECe digital control systems.

GE will use the real-time simulator at its Belfort Center of Excellence in France to conduct extensive shop trials of the control system, allowing the entire upgrade installation to be completed within 12 days of the dry dock.
During the upgrade, the Visor remote controller will also be upgraded to provide better diagnostics, help troubleshoot remotely, and reduce unplanned downtime. At the same time, GE will provide technical assistance for the first voyage after the dry dock.
