GM will collaborate with SAIC to enter Southeast Asia

It is understood that the relationship between General Motors and SAIC Group is stable and both parties plan to cooperate in the development of the Southeast Asian market.

On December 5th, Su Ruibo said that SAIC's low-priced car technology is of utmost importance to GM's performance in the Southeast Asian market. SAIC's development of the Thai market and the transfer of GM India's equity do not affect the relationship between the two companies. The cooperation between the two companies has become increasingly close. Su Ruibo officially took over from Gan Wenwei on October 1 this year.

In October of this year, General Motors repurchased 41% of General Motors India from SAIC and increased its shareholding to 91%. SAIC's shareholding ratio shrank to 9%.

On December 4th, SAIC Group and Thai Chia Tai Group jointly announced that they plan to establish a joint venture company in Thailand to manufacture and sell SAIC's own brand MG products for the ASEAN market.

Based on the above two incidents, the media commented that SAIC's business focus will shift to Thailand and the ASEAN region, and even give up the vigorous development of the Indian business.
