Icom launches a VHF/DSC marine radio transceiver

It is reported that the marine radio transceiver will provide a complete Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) VHF communication system. The GM600 Marine Radio Transceiver will meet the European Merchant Marine Equipment Directive 2014 / 90 / EU WheelMark certification requirements.

The GM600 Marine Transceiver is ideal for any commercial vessel that requires reliable, easy to use and high performance communications and is critical to the day-to-day operation of commercial operations.

The GM600 Marine Radio Transceiver is ideal for luxury cruises, tankers, offshore tugs, rescue boats and marine fishing vessels. The GM600 Marine Transceiver has a separate DSC receiver that continuously monitors 70 channels while utilizing another VHF channel. The DSC construction will help the crew to call other ships or coast stations directly and all ships within their geographic area.

The GM600 Marine Transceiver will be designed to comfortably meet any commercial bridge and coordinate with other instruments, while its power supply will be differentially mounted on one side and out of view. A large 4.3-inch color thin film field effect transistor (TFT) liquid crystal display (LCD) will provide a user-friendly display and quick identification of screen information. Day and night mode can be selected according to lighting conditions.

The GM600 Marine Transceiver has a combination of arrow keys and virtual buttons that provide easy operation. The main 12 functions will be assigned to the virtual buttons (at the bottom of the display) and switched with the left and right buttons. A clearly labeled keypad will provide direct input.

The GM600 Marine Radio Transceiver has been supplied to authorized Icom commercial ship dealers. Together with the GM800 GMDSS IF/HF station, a complete MF/HF/VHF GMDSS station will be available. The IC-GM1600E Lifeboat Radio will complement Icom's Daxin GMDSS series.
