Japan’s Tokyo Institute of Technology recently released a news release saying that researchers at the hospital used nano-sized zeolite catalysts and small reactor systems to increase the ratio of propylene/ethylene naphtha cracking to 1.0, which is the largest proportion of conventional systems. . The two base catalysts were selected from 27 candidate zeolite catalysts and made into nanoparticles with a diameter of 100-200 nm in diameter, which is 1/10 of the size of the commercial catalyst. With the addition of steam and 650 °C, the nano-catalyst carbon deposition was significantly reduced and the activity was maintained for a longer period of time. Researchers have now built a small reactor that processes 1 kilograms of naphtha per day.
