Technip announced on March 23 that it will undertake the preliminary engineering design of the Malaysian National Petroleum Corporation's Petronas complex development project in Johor, southern Malaysia.
According to the contract, related work is expected to be completed in the second half of 2013. The project will involve world-scale integrated oil refineries and petrochemical facilities that Petronas Malaysia is planning to complete in 2016. The petrochemical derivative plant of the combined plant will include products such as polyethylene, polypropylene and synthetic rubber. In addition, the National Petroleum Corporation of Malaysia has signed an agreement with BASF to develop several downstream projects within the joint facility.
