Isomerization of aromatics is the use of mixed xylene as a raw material, through the role of the catalyst to change the molecular structure of the material, the raw material components are converted into the target product of p-xylene, and then through oxidation, refining, to make fine benzene Formic acid (PTA) to increase resource utilization efficiency.
According to reports, the aromatics complex of Yangzi Petrochemical was imported from foreign countries and used imported catalysts in 1989. After the development of domestically produced catalysts and the mature preparation technology, the aromatic isomerization equipment has been using domestically produced catalysts. In recent years, the world has successively developed catalysts with better selectivity, activity, and stability. In 2006, Yangzi Petrochemical introduced the OPARIS isomerization catalyst developed by Shell Standard Catalysts (zeolyst). Due to its good comprehensive effect, the catalyst has been exhibited. Rapidly occupy the momentum of the domestic market.
In the face of a strong competitor, the Institute of Geosciences has worked hard to develop a new type of isomerized RIC-200 catalyst that can compete with the OPARIS catalyst, and the first industrialized application test of the aromatics complex at Yangzi Petrochemical. After calibration, compared with the Shell catalyst, the domestic catalyst activity is comparable, but it has a higher reaction selectivity, the side reactions are reduced to a smaller limit, and the aromatic resources are maximally utilized. At the same time, domestically produced catalysts also have the characteristics of low reaction temperature and low hydrogen consumption, which greatly reduces the energy consumption of the device. Among them, the isomerization activity has increased by two percentage points, and the comprehensive energy consumption has dropped drastically. The loss of aromatics has dropped from 4.5% to 1.7%.
It is estimated that after using this catalyst, the average concentration of para-xylene in the adsorptive separation feed of Yangzi Petrochemical's aromatics combined plant will increase by 1.3%, and the annual production of paraxylene will increase by about 20,000 tons, while hydrogen, steam, and fuel will be greatly reduced. Consumption, overall economic efficiency exceeds 60 million yuan. The development and application of this catalyst has become a successful model for promoting the development of domestic aromatics industry and localization of high-efficiency catalysts.
