The supermassive black holes in the center of large galaxies, for many years, astronomers want to know how these black holes have grown so large. Now, scientists in eastern Australia may have discovered what is behind the Parks radio telescope through the use of the Federal Academy of Sciences.
Ramesh said that this is the first time that we have been able to use gravitational wave information to study the growth of a massive black hole in another aspect of the universe. The co-author of the new study said that black holes are almost impossible to observe directly, but equipped with this powerful new tool, we are some exciting moments from astronomy. How the black hole has grown has been one of the discount models, and now we are beginning to explore.
Gravitational waves are large objects in time and space that change their speed or direction, allowing them to detour around each other. When the galaxies merged, their central black holes were destined to be met. They first lumped around the vortexes before each other and emitted the frequency of gravitational waves, which astronomers should be able to detect. This special phenomenon occurs again and again, and the entire universe is played again. However, in this case, astronomers have been looking for gravitational waves by examining a group of 20 small spinning stars called pulsars. Pulsars act as extremely accurate clocks in space. Their pulse arrival time on the earth is measured with precision, within one-tenth of a microsecond. When gravitational waves pass through the space-time of the rolling area, they temporarily expand or contract the distance within the area, changing the arrival time of the pulse on the Earth.
So what did the scientists discover, they have been able to find out how low the background rate of gravitational waves is. In fact, they were able to test four types of black hole growth. At the end of the year, they ruled out that black hole quality was only obtained through mergers and acquisitions. However, the other three models are still possible. The survey results show that this study adds a bit of insight into the growth of black holes. More specifically, they took a step toward understanding how these supermassive black holes really grew.
