In March 2008, after more than one year of meticulous preparations, Henan Shangyu New Energy Co., Ltd. was established. The project of annual production of 20,000 tons of trichlorosilane with a total investment of 120 million yuan was officially started. On November 16 of that year, the project was completed and put into production.
Due to the late start of the domestic trichlorosilane industry, foreign companies are relatively closed to relevant technical information. After the project is put into operation, equipment frequently fails, product quality is unstable, raw materials are consumed high, and economic efficiency and market competitiveness are poor. Under this circumstance, Shangyu Company tapped its potential and cracked technical problems. They have conducted in-depth exchanges with relevant scientific research institutes such as Beijing University of Chemical Technology and Sichuan Kaiyuan Chemical Design Institute, and sent out technical personnel to conduct various inspections and investigations to determine technical transformation programs such as transformation of pressure swing adsorption of tail gas and reformation of distillation purification system. After the implementation of the project, the plant operation was continuous and stable, and the product quality steadily improved. The conversion rate of trichlorosilane was increased from 80% to 85% to 88% to 90%, and the purity of trichlorosilane was also increased from 99.5% to 99.99. %.
Excellent product quality has become a stepping stone to open the market. Luoyang Sinosilica, Sichuan Ruineng, Jiangxi LDK and other well-known polysilicon companies have established business relations with Henan Shangyu Company. In 2011, Shangyu Corporation occupied 30% of the province's market share and was awarded as the only outstanding supplier by LDK Solar.
