据戴姆勒股份公司董事、戴姆勒大中华区董事长兼CEO唐仕凯称，戴姆勒或将在中国制造电池和电动汽车。在中国本土制造更多产品，将成为奔驰销量增长的动力。
唐仕凯表示，在中国建造电池厂是“选择之一”,但目前还未真正做决定。被问及奔驰是否基于Generation EQ纯电动概念车来生产电动汽车，并拟定了明确的生产日期，唐仕凯并未作出回答。Generation EQ纯电动概念车于今年9月底举行的巴黎车展正式亮相。这款最接近量产的纯电动概念车在巴黎全球亮相后，也于今年的广州车展登陆亚洲。
据了解，奔驰计划在2025年前，其纯电动车子品牌“EQ”拥有超过10款纯电动车型。同时，Generation EQ纯电动概念车的量产车型预计在2020年左右推出。唐仕凯表示，目前奔驰的战略计划是大力推动电动汽车，奔驰将继续投资纯电动汽车和混合动力汽车，缺乏电池充电基础设施意味着混合动力车型将会成为替代性质的过渡产品。
截止到目前，奔驰在华销量增长了28%。这要得益于奔驰在设计上的改进，使旗下车型更富运动感和豪华感，从而在全球最大的汽车市场中获得销量的进一步增长。而为了保持良好的增长势头，奔驰正考虑在中国本土生产电池和电动汽车。
2016年，奔驰在销量上的表现要比预期的好，目前已销售汽车42.9万辆，唐仕凯说，国产车型在需求上的增长提高了奔驰在华整体的汽车销量。
唐仕凯对明年奔驰在华的表现充满信心：“我有信心，梅赛德斯-奔驰明年在华将继续有良好的市场表现，过去一年，奔驰C级的销量极为惊人，但同时，GLC的产能略有不足，不够满足市场所需。”此外，唐仕凯认为，新上市的全新一代奔驰E级或将在2017年获得较好的增长势头。
为了减少污染，中国提出了新能源汽车补贴政策，以鼓励销售零排放汽车。同时，为缓解日益严峻的环境现状，中国正考虑推出碳排放交易机制，与加利福尼亚的类似，唐仕凯说。
从12月1日起，中国对售价超过130万元（18.9万美元）的乘用车和中轻型商用客车加收10%的消费税。唐仕凯认为，该政策预计不会削弱奔驰的销售额，因为客户已经准备好为梅赛德斯-奔驰的顶级车型支付高价，奔驰每月大概销售500辆顶级车型。
谈及中国消费者对SUV车型持续增长的需求，唐仕凯表示，总体来说，中国客户相对而言更喜欢轿车车型，即便需求已经从E级转向C级。北京奔驰汽车自2005年以来，一直生产奔驰乘用车。2015年，奔驰在华总销量的三分之二均为中国本土生产的车型。
